Afternoon sun lighting an "Emerald Forest" along the Merced River in Yosemite Valley. Growing out of a mountain of granite, this "Bristlecone Pine" has weathered hundreds of years in this isolated part of Yosemite. "Lake Cachuma Panorama" is a trio of paintings capturing a wide view of this Santa Ynez Valley lake with storm clouds gathering overhead. Hiking in the mountains at Lake Tahoe we came across a prominent crag with an old "Weathered Pine" tenaciously growing out of the rocks. Heading east out of Aspen Hwy 82 winds its way over Independence Pass, the winter snows make it impassable but accessible on foot. "Aspen Aspens" is a view of an aspen grove along the way. There are endless miles of hiking trails on Mt. Rainier, "Cascades" is a view of one of the many waterfalls that you encounter. "Zaca Ridge" is a familiar part of the scenery in the Santa Ynez valley, here the late afternoon sun lights the background of this part of the San Rafael Mountains. This scene shows a colorful evening sky under an "Autumn Moonrise" ; the harvest moon has just come up over the Santa Ynez mountains and is illuminating the vineyards foothills of the valley. A number of these landscape paintings were completed after a trip to British Columbia which covered an area from Vancouver through some of the Canadian National parks. - “Whistler Rock Field” indeed is a remote mountain top view looking towards Garibaldi Provincial Park in British Columbia. It is the fall of the year and there is a feeling in the air that the winter snows aren’t far away. - “Mountain in Yoho” is a spectacular peak to the interior of Yoho National Park in British Columbia. We were returning to the main road through the park and noticed the setting sun lighting up this mountain ridge. - The view pictured in “Santa Ynez Valley Spring” is from the eastern part of the valley. There is a brief time during the spring after the winter rains when the valley turns a lush green. The San Rafael Mountains define the skyline with ranch lands in the foreground. - “Sand Point Refuge” is a verdant spring view from the ocean side of the Carpinteria Marsh looking towards the Santa Ynez Mountains behind Montecito. - Just beyond the Santa Barbara Mission lies the “Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens”; this landscape painting presents the central meadow in full bloom stretched out below La Cumbre Peak. - “Sunset Ridge” is another view from Yoho National Park. We had followed a small road though a canyon along a mountain stream, at the end was a waterfall of great height where the water almost disappeared into a fine mist. The last rays of the afternoon sun shone on this craggy ridge making it look like gold. - “Mountain Skyline” is a small panoramic landscape painting of a view from Garibaldi Provincial Park in British Columbia. - “Mountain Stream” is one of many such views that we encountered when hiking at Mt. Rainier in Washington state. - “Alpine Meadow” is one of the open ski trails found at the upper elevations on Whistler Mountain; it’s the fall of the year with views of the glacier snow pack in Garibaldi Provincial Park. - Hiking down Whistler Mountain, the view “Timberline” shows the panoramic view towards Blackcomb Mountain on the opposite valley.
